Dutch chandeliers, nickel and chrome

The classic Dutch style of chandelier has been known since the fifteenth century and was especially popular in the Netherlands. The chandelier is made of brass or bronze and is characterized by curling down S-shaped arms and a baluster-shaped body, which provided, when highly polished, an ideal reflecting surface. The weight of the heavy brass ball keeps the fitting level and prevents it from swinging.
They were often made for churches but were also used for domestic lighting. Due to its simple and recognizable form the Dutch chandelier fits in most interiors.
Since 1950, they were also designed in chromium- and nickel- plated types, that fits perfectly in a modern setting or kitchen, in which stainless steel has been implimented.
